Description: Eltex MES CFM MIB for managing 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management domains, MEPs, and OAM test operations.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-CFM-MIB?

ELTEX-MES-CFM-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB implementing IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management for Eltex's MES series Ethernet switches, functionally parallel to ELTEX-CFM-MIB but scoped specifically to the MES product line's OID branch. It exposes maintenance domain (MD) and maintenance association (MA) tables with name, index, and row-status objects analogous to the general Eltex CFM MIB. Its monitoring focus is Ethernet OAM/software configuration status: eltCfmMdRowStatus and eltCfmMaRowStatus confirm CFM domains/associations are properly provisioned and active on an MES switch, which is what makes end-to-end link/path fault detection, such as loss of continuity or misconnection, work correctly. It is explicitly modeled on the IEEE 802.1ag CFM standard, mirroring the same conceptual dependency as ELTEX-CFM-MIB. It is deployed on Eltex MES-series switches in carrier/metro Ethernet access networks, where ELTEX-MES-CFM-MIB SNMP monitoring confirms CFM domains and associations remain properly provisioned.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-CFM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES-series switches (carrier/metro Ethernet)

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks eltCfmMdTable/eltCfmMdEntry (by eltCfmMdIndex/eltCfmMdName) and eltCfmMaTable/eltCfmMaEntry (by eltCfmMaIndex) on an MES switch to confirm CFM domains and associations are provisioned with eltCfmMdRowStatus/eltCfmMaRowStatus showing active, and eltCfmMaDirection is checked to verify MEP direction is correctly set relative to the customer port, so that a continuity-check failure correctly flags a real fiber/link fault rather than a misconfiguration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • maintenance domain configuration and status
  • maintenance association configuration and status
  • MEP monitoring direction
  • CFM provisioning row status
