This read-write setting selects the switch's global DHCP Option 82 reforwarding policy, choosing among replace, drop, or keep for any incoming DHCP packet that already carries Option 82 data. Because edge switches insert circuit/remote-ID data into DHCP requests for subscriber accounting and security, this policy determines whether the switch trusts, discards, or preserves Option 82 data a client device may have already inserted, which matters for keeping location data trustworthy. An admin might set it to drop(2) so any DHCP request that arrives already tagged with Option 82 is discarded instead of relayed to the server.
