Category: DHCP, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Configures DHCP relay and snooping functions on Marvell switch VLANs and ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-DHCP-MIB?

RADLAN-DHCP-MIB is a private Marvell/Radlan switch MIB configuring DHCP relay, snooping, and an embedded DHCP server on Marvell-based switch VLANs and ports. It exposes mostly configuration objects, but several enable/exists flags function as software service-status indicators showing whether the relay agent or embedded DHCP server subsystem is actually running. Monitoring this MIB centers on confirming that the DHCP relay path and, where used, the local DHCP server service are up and correctly forwarding or serving address requests, rather than reporting hardware metrics. It builds on the standard DHCP protocol concepts from RFC 2131 and relies on interface/VLAN indexing conventions shared with other switch MIBs. It is typically deployed on access or distribution switches acting as DHCP relay agents toward centralized DHCP servers, or offering embedded DHCP service for small networks. Engineers can download the RADLAN-DHCP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-DHCP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/Radlan-based managed switch

Monitoring Examples

rlDhcpRelayEnable and rlDhcpRelayExists show whether relay is configured and active, while rlDhcpRelayNextServerTable/Entry lists configured DHCP server IPs (rlDhcpRelayNextServerIpAddr) with a security threshold and rlDhcpRelayNextServerRowStatus. An admin seeing that row status move to notInService for a critical server entry would understand why clients on that VLAN are failing to obtain addresses. rlDhcpSrvEnable and rlDhcpSrvDbLocation can be checked to confirm the embedded DHCP server service is running and where its lease database resides.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCP relay agent enable/status
  • configured next-server (DHCP server) IP addresses
  • relay row status per server entry
  • embedded DHCP server enable status
  • DHCP server database location
