Category: Technology: VPN, Vendor: Eltex

Description: Manages tunnel interface configuration and operational state on Eltex devices, including GRE and IP-in-IP tunnel parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-TUNNEL-MIB?

ELTEX-TUNNEL-MIB manages WiFi tunnel interfaces on Eltex devices, providing configuration and operational state for tunnels used to backhaul or encapsulate wireless traffic independent of the specific encapsulation scheme (e.g., GRE-like or IP-in-IP style tunneling) in use. It exposes a table of per-tunnel configuration objects covering endpoint addressing, encapsulation method, and administrative status. Its monitoring role is chiefly configuration and operational-status visibility for tunnel interfaces, letting an administrator confirm whether a given WiFi tunnel is enabled and correctly addressed, which is a software-state health check for wireless backhaul connectivity rather than a hardware sensor. It builds on general IP addressing conventions (InetAddressType/InetAddress style typed addressing) common to IETF tunnel and address MIBs. It is deployed on Eltex wireless access points or controllers that use tunneled architectures to centralize WiFi traffic back to a controller or gateway, typically after an ELTEX-TUNNEL-MIB download to load the module into a MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex WiFi access point
  • Eltex wireless controller

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll tunnelWiFiConfigTable, indexed by tunnelWiFiConfigID (or tunnelWiFiConfigIfIndex), to check tunnelWiFiConfigLocalAddress and tunnelWiFiConfigRemoteAddress alongside tunnelWiFiConfigEncapsMethod to confirm a wireless tunnel is correctly configured between an access point and its controller. The tunnelWiFiConfigStatus object reveals whether that tunnel entry is active/enabled or disabled, and a tunnel unexpectedly showing a down or not-in-service status would explain a loss of WiFi backhaul connectivity for the associated access point, while tunnelWiFiConfigMode and tunnelWiFiConfigDefaultProfile indicate which operating mode and default profile the tunnel is using.

What Can Be Monitored

  • WiFi tunnel local/remote endpoint address
  • tunnel encapsulation method
  • tunnel administrative/operational status
  • tunnel mode and default profile
