Description: Manages L3 routing and IP interface configuration for D-Link DES-3810-52 smart switch.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DES-3810-52-L3MGMT-MIB?

DES-3810-52-L3MGMT-MIB is a D-Link proprietary MIB providing Layer 3 network management information for the DES-3810-52 smart switch, covering routing configuration such as OSPF equal-cost multipath (ECMP) settings, route preference, link-state database management, and default route origination. It exposes configuration-oriented data for the switch's routing engine rather than raw traffic counters, focused on how OSPF and static/default routes are set up and prioritized. Its monitoring value is mainly in verifying routing software configuration correctness (e.g., ECMP hashing parameters, route preference ordering) as an indicator of the control-plane's operational state rather than hardware sensors. It is an extension alongside standard OSPF-MIB concepts, since ECMP and LSDB management terms mirror OSPF protocol behavior defined in RFC 4750's OSPF-MIB. It is deployed in networks using the DES-3810-52 switch where Layer 3 routing (OSPF, static routes) is enabled at the access or distribution layer, and administrators can download the DES-3810-52-L3MGMT-MIB file to load into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DES-3810-52-L3MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link DES-3810-52 Layer 3 smart switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check swL3OspfECMPState and the ECMP hashing objects (like the CRC-based hash fields referenced by ECMP entries) to confirm equal-cost multipath load balancing is active and using the expected hash inputs (e.g., TCP/UDP port). Reviewing swL3RoutePreference reveals how the switch ranks routes from different sources (static vs. OSPF vs. default) when multiple paths exist, which explains unexpected route selection. Checking swL3OspfDefInfoOrigMgmt confirms whether the switch is originating a default route into OSPF, helping diagnose why downstream routers do or do not receive a default gateway advertisement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF ECMP state
  • ECMP hash configuration
  • route preference ordering
  • OSPF link-state database management
  • default route origination status

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using swL3ospfVirtIfEvents OID:

Select a D-Link DES-3810-52 Layer 3 smart switch as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type swL3ospfVirtIfEvents into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of state changes or error events on this Virtual Link. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
