What Is IPV6-TC?

IPV6-TC is a vendor-neutral IETF standards MIB defining textual conventions for IPv6 addressing - including IPv6 addresses, address prefixes, and interface identifiers - for use across other IPv6-related management MIBs. It belongs to the foundational/infrastructure category of SNMP MIBs supporting IPv6 network management. It does not expose any live data tables of its own; rather it supplies shared IPv6 data types that other MIBs (such as IPV6-UDP-MIB or an IPv6 TCP/IP MIB) use to represent addresses and prefixes consistently. Because it defines no runtime objects, it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status by itself; its significance is purely as a dependency for IPv6-capable management MIBs. It is deployed implicitly on any SNMP-managed device or host that supports IPv6 and exposes IPv6-related management data, and developers implementing IPv6 support typically treat the IPV6-TC reference as an import-only dependency rather than a source of pollable data in its own right.

This is a textual-convention module with no runtime data objects of its own, so there is no realistic polling scenario to describe; its IPv6 address/prefix conventions are instead used by other IPv6 MIBs (for example the ipv6UdpLocalAddress object in IPV6-UDP-MIB) to represent addresses consistently.
