Category: Switch Management

Description: Manages local user accounts, roles, and authentication settings on DASAN network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DASAN-USER-MANAGEMENT-MIB?

DASAN-USER-MANAGEMENT-MIB is a DASAN Networks (now DASAN Zhone Solutions/DZS) enterprise MIB used to manage local user accounts, roles, and authentication settings on DASAN network devices such as access switches and DSLAMs. It exposes a login session table recording each active login by index, username, terminal (tty), source IP address, connection type, and additional session info. This MIB is used primarily to monitor the software/administrative status of the device -- specifically who is currently logged in, from where, and via what access method -- serving as an access-security and session-visibility MIB rather than a hardware sensor MIB. There is no strong indication of dependency on other standard MIBs beyond typical SNMPv2-SMI/TC conventions. It is typically deployed in service-provider or enterprise access network environments where administrative access to DASAN switching/DSLAM equipment must be audited. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the DASAN-USER-MANAGEMENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DASAN-USER-MANAGEMENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • DASAN Networks/DZS access switches and DSLAMs

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll dsUserLoginTable (via dsUserLoginEntry rows keyed by dsUserLoginIndex) to see currently active sessions, checking dsUserLoginName, dsUserLoginIpAddress, and dsUserLoginType to confirm who is logged into the device and how (e.g. console, Telnet, SSH). An unexpected dsUserLoginIpAddress or an unrecognized dsUserLoginName appearing in the table could indicate unauthorized administrative access to the device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active login sessions
  • logged-in username
  • source IP address of login
  • login access type (console/Telnet/SSH)
  • terminal/tty identifier
