What Is DASAN-SWITCH-MIB?

DASAN-SWITCH-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Dasan Networks (Dasan Zhone) covering the configuration and operational management of its Ethernet switch product line, including port, VLAN, trunk/link-aggregation, and forwarding-table objects. It exposes configuration-oriented data (port settings, VLAN membership, trunk grouping) alongside operational state reflecting the switch's current forwarding behavior. In monitoring terms it is used primarily to check the software/configuration status of the switch, such as which VLANs and trunks are active and how ports are currently forwarding traffic, complementing standard IF-MIB interface counters. It typically works alongside the standard IETF BRIDGE-MIB and IF-MIB for interface- and bridging-level detail this vendor MIB does not duplicate. It is deployed on Dasan managed Ethernet switches in enterprise and carrier-access network environments. Administrators unfamiliar with this vendor module often start by loading it into a DASAN-SWITCH-MIB MIB Browser session to explore the VLAN, trunk, and forwarding-table objects before scripting automated polling.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DASAN-SWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port VLAN membership
  • trunk/link-aggregation group status
  • forwarding table entries
  • port configuration state

Supported Devices

  • Dasan Networks (Dasan Zhone) managed Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll the switch's VLAN membership and trunk group tables to confirm a given port is assigned to the expected VLAN and trunk, and cross-check forwarding table entries against expected MAC-to-port mappings. A port unexpectedly missing from its configured VLAN, or a trunk group reporting an inactive member, would indicate misconfiguration or link failure. Because no concrete object names were available for this module, this description is necessarily generic rather than citing specific table/object identifiers.

FAQ

How can I verify which VLANs and trunk groups are currently active on a Dasan managed switch?
DASAN-SWITCH-MIB exposes port VLAN membership and trunk/link-aggregation group status objects, letting an operator confirm which ports belong to which VLAN and which trunk groups are currently up, useful when validating a switch's config matches what was intended after a change.

How would I check the forwarding table on a Dasan switch to troubleshoot a connectivity issue between two hosts?
The MIB provides forwarding table entries alongside per-port configuration state, so an administrator can poll which MAC addresses are learned on which ports and cross-reference that against port config to isolate where traffic is being dropped or misforwarded.

RFC description

Dasan switch management MIB for network switch monitoring and configuration.

Start monitoring Dasan Networks (Dasan Zhone) managed Ethernet switch with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
