Category: Technology: Token Ring, Vendor: Memotec

Description: Manages Token Ring data I/O module parameters and ring statistics on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXTRDIo-MIB?

CXTRDIo-MIB is a private MIB (imports CXProduct-SMI, consistent with 3Com PathBuilder/CXProduct WAN switch hardware) configuring Token Ring service access points (SAPs) and their associated hardware ports. Its table, keyed by SAP number, records an alias name, port speed, transmit/receive buffer queue depth, and controls for an internal test-data generator including frame count and size. As a configuration/diagnostic MIB it lets an administrator provision a Token Ring SAP's port speed and buffering, and trigger a built-in traffic generator for circuit testing. It is deployed on 3Com/CXProduct WAN switch hardware with Token Ring interface cards. Engineers can download the CXTRDIo-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXTRDIo-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • 3Com/CXProduct WAN switch hardware with Token Ring interface cards

Monitoring Examples

An administrator uses trdSapOprDataGenerator with trdSapOprGenFrames/trdSapOprGenFrameSize to generate test traffic on a Token Ring SAP while verifying end-to-end circuit throughput during commissioning.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Token Ring SAP port speed and buffer configuration
  • built-in traffic generator control
