Category: Domain: System Management, Vendor: Memotec
Description: Manages logical port allocation and port-to-service binding on CX Memotec devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CXPortManager-MIB?
CXPortManager-MIB is a vendor-specific Aastra/CX MIB that manages logical port allocation and the binding of physical/logical ports to services on CX Memotec WAN access devices. It exposes a planned-configuration table describing intended port numbering and type, alongside an administrative table used to control port state. For hardware/software status monitoring, cxPrtMAdminPortControl is the key operational lever/indicator, letting an operator see and change whether a port is enabled, disabled, or reset, while cxPrtMPrtType and cxPrtMPrtNum let an operator confirm each port's planned role matches what is physically installed, catching provisioning mismatches before they cause service outages. It acts as an orchestration layer above the lower-level per-protocol MIBs on the CX platform (e.g., CXEthIo-MIB, CXISDN-MIB) that manage the actual port hardware. It is typically deployed on Aastra CX multi-service access devices where a single chassis hosts many configurable port types, and administrators typically load the CXPortManager-MIB MIB Browser file to inspect port allocation directly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXPortManager-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aastra ConvertedX (CX) multi-service access device
Monitoring Examples
An operator would check cxPrtMPlannedCfgTable and its cxPrtMPrtType/cxPrtMPrtNum columns to confirm which service each logical port is planned to carry, then cross-reference cxPrtMAdminTable's cxPrtMAdminPortControl to see whether that port is currently administratively enabled. A port stuck in a disabled or reset admin-control state despite being planned for service would explain a customer-reported outage on that circuit. This MIB is primarily a provisioning/inventory-consistency tool rather than a traffic-statistics source.
What Can Be Monitored
- planned port type/number configuration
- administrative port control state (enable/disable/reset)
