Category: SNA and Legacy Protocols, Vendor: Aastra

Description: Manages Aastra QLLC (Qualified Logical Link Control) configuration for SNA over X.25 network transport.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXQLLC-MIB?

CXQLLC-MIB is an Aastra (CX Memotec) MIB managing QLLC (Qualified Logical Link Control), a protocol that carries SNA (IBM Systems Network Architecture) traffic over X.25 packet-switched networks. It exposes per-SAP configuration (channel number, type, alias, companion alias, operational mode) and a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) table linking QLLC SAPs to their X.25 DTE addressing. For monitoring it is used to confirm each QLLC SAP's operational mode and connection status, revealing a SAP that has failed to establish its SNA-over-X.25 session or is incorrectly paired with its companion channel, which is a software/protocol-session status concern relevant to legacy SNA gateway devices rather than physical sensors. It depends on the X.25 standard for the underlying packet network layer and the SNA/QLLC specification for the protocol conversion it performs. It is deployed on Aastra/CX Memotec SNA gateway devices bridging legacy mainframe traffic over X.25 WANs. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CXQLLC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXQLLC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra/CX Memotec SNA gateway device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll qllcSapTable/qllcSapEntry indexed by qllcSapNumber to check qllcSapOperationalMode and qllcSapRowStatus, confirming a given QLLC SAP is active and correctly operating, and would compare qllcSapAlias against qllcSapCompanionAlias to verify correct SNA channel pairing. The qllcDteTable/qllcDteEntry, referencing qllcDteSap, would be checked to confirm the SAP's associated X.25 DTE address mapping is correct. A SAP whose operational mode does not match its expected SNA session state would indicate a failed or dropped mainframe connection over the X.25 link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • QLLC SAP operational mode/state
  • SAP-to-companion channel pairing
  • SAP-to-DTE (X.25) address mapping
  • SAP row status
