What Is CXSDLC-MIB?

CXSDLC-MIB is a vendor MIB for managing SDLC (Synchronous Data Link Control) links, the legacy IBM SNA data-link protocol used to connect to mainframe hosts via front-end processors or protocol converters. It defines an SDLC SAP (Service Access Point) table (sdlcSapTable/Entry) with per-SAP configuration such as SAP number, controller-unit type, alias/companion-alias naming for SNA correlation, duplex mode, DTR-raise behavior on connect, and poll-interval/acknowledgment timers, along with RowStatus-based provisioning. Its monitoring value is centered on legacy connectivity configuration and link-layer status: administrators can check whether an SDLC SAP is administratively up, its addressing/alias mapping to the SNA network, and timing parameters that affect link stability, rather than general device hardware health. It sits alongside broader SNA gateway/front-end-processor MIBs and depends on RowStatus and standard SMI table conventions. It's deployed in legacy environments where a protocol converter/gateway device bridges SDLC-attached mainframe or SNA controller-unit traffic onto modern networks. Monitoring Examples

An administrator troubleshooting a dropped SNA session would check sdlcSapRowStatus and sdlcSapDuplex for the relevant sdlcSapNumber, and review sdlcPollIntAfterAckTimer to see if polling timeouts are too aggressive for a slow link. Mismatched sdlcSapAlias/sdlcSapCompanionAlias values between two ends of a connection would explain a failure to establish the SNA session. sdlcSapCuType identifies which controller-unit type is expected, useful when a newly attached device isn't being recognized correctly.
