Category: Domain: System Management, Vendor: Memotec

Description: Manages system event logging, alert generation, and notification on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXEventManager-MIB?

CXEventManager-MIB manages system event logging, alert triggers, and notification destinations on CX Memotec communications devices. It exposes objects for defining trigger functions (which CPU/destination an event is routed to, with configurable arguments) and a log-file table that tracks stored event log files on the device. In terms of hardware/software status monitoring, it centers on software-level event and fault logging, which CPU logged an event, where it was forwarded, and the state/identity of on-device log files, rather than raw hardware sensors. It is a vendor-proprietary logging framework specific to CX/Memotec equipment, independent of standard SNMP notification MIBs like SNMPv2-MIB traps. It is typically deployed on Memotec branch-office gateways or multiplexers where centralized event capture and forwarding to a management CPU or external log destination is needed, and administrators can download the CXEventManager-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXEventManager-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CX Memotec communications gateway/multiplexer

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll cxEvmLogFileTable/cxEvmLogFileEntry to enumerate stored log files by cxEvmLogFileId and check cxEvmLogFileRowStatus to confirm a log file is active rather than being deleted. Configuring cxEvmTriggerFunction with a cxEvmTrigDestCPU and cxEvmTrigDestSapId lets the device forward specific events (via cxEvmTrigArgument1/cxEvmTrigArgument2) to another processor, and a rising cxEvmLoggingCPU load combined with missing expected log entries would indicate the event pipeline itself is falling behind.

What Can Be Monitored

  • event trigger routing/destination
  • log file inventory and status
  • logging CPU load
  • trigger argument configuration
