cxEvmLogFileEvTrapFilter
Module: CXEventManager-MIB
OID (symbolic): CXEventManager-MIB::cxEvmLogFileEvTrapFilter
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.17.8.1.7
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OCTET STRING
Access: read-write
Description: The field consists of 2 hexadecimal octets. The value represents a bit field used to determines which events are to generate SNMP traps according to their event type. Each bit in this object is mapped to a specific event type. Setting a bit to 1 will cause SNMP trap generation for the associated event type. Turning a bit off (0) disables SNMP trap generation for the associated event.
- bit 0: error type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 1: warning type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 2: status type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 3: trace type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 4: user1 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 5: user2 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 6: user3 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 7: user4 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 8: user5 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 9: user6 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 10: user7 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 11: user8 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 12: user9 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 13: user10 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 14: user11 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap) - bit 15: user12 type (0: filter out, 1:send SNMP trap)
Range of Values: 0000 to ffff (hexadecimal)
Default Value: 0000
What is cxEvmLogFileEvTrapFilter?
This 2-byte hexadecimal bitmask, defaulting to 0000, controls which event types generate SNMP traps, with bits mapped to error, warning, status, trace, and twelve user-defined event types; setting a bit to 1 causes SNMP trap generation for that event type, while clearing it suppresses trap generation. Admins configure this to limit SNMP trap noise to only the most critical event categories, such as errors. For example, setting only bit 0 to 1 (hex 0001) sends SNMP traps only for error-type events while suppressing traps for all other event types.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.17.8.1.7 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CXEventManager-MIB::cxEvmLogFileEvTrapFilter
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.17.8.1.7.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CXEventManager-MIB::cxEvmLogFileEvTrapFilter.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.495.2.1.5.17.8.1.7.1 s <value>
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> cxEvmLogFileEvTrapFilter.1
