Description: Monitors I/O hardware module inventory and operational status on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXIoHardware-MIB?

CXIoHardware-MIB is a Memotec/Aastra CX product MIB for monitoring the inventory and operational status of I/O hardware modules (cards and ports) installed in CX Memotec chassis. It exposes administrative and operational tables for I/O cards and ports (cxIoCardAdmTable, cxIoPortAdmTable, cxIoCardOperTable), tracking each card's type, admin configuration, and index-mapped port assignments. This is explicitly a hardware-status MIB: it lets an operator confirm which I/O cards are physically installed and their operational state, and it includes a dedicated trap (cxIoHwCardTypeTrapReport) to notify management stations when a card's detected type changes, such as after a hot-swap or a card failure/replacement. It depends on the vendor's overarching CXProduct-SMI for its OID placement within the broader CX product tree and correlates with chassis/slot conventions used across other CX MIBs. It was deployed on Memotec/Aastra CX600-series multiservice access devices to give operators visibility into card-level hardware inventory and faults. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the CXIoHardware-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXIoHardware-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Memotec/Aastra CX600-series multiservice access device

Monitoring Examples

Polling cxIoCardAdmTable and cxIoCardOperTable together lets an administrator compare the configured card type against its actual operational state, flagging a card that is administratively enabled but operationally down. The cxIoPortAdmTable indexed by cxIoPortAdmIndex exposes per-port configuration, useful for confirming a port's settings after a card replacement. Receiving a cxIoHwCardTypeTrapReport notification alerts the NMS in real time that a card's detected hardware type has changed, typically indicating a technician swapped in a different or faulty module.

What Can Be Monitored

  • I/O card inventory and type
  • card administrative vs operational state
  • per-port configuration
  • card type change events/traps
