Category: Domain: System Management, Vendor: Memotec

Description: Manages file server services including file transfer and storage management on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXFileServer-MIB?

CXFileServer-MIB is a CX Memotec MIB for managing embedded file transfer and storage services on Memotec devices, primarily covering TFTP-based file transfer operations and local file system housekeeping. It exposes objects for initiating and tracking TFTP transfers, target storage slot, retransmission count, querying free storage space, listing files, and triggering background or one-time cleanup. Its monitoring value is software/storage-status oriented: cxFsFreeBytes lets an operator track available storage before a firmware/config transfer, cxFsIsBusy reveals whether a transfer is in progress, and cxFsFileList supports auditing which firmware/config files reside on the device. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no strong dependency on external standard MIBs, functioning as a private file-management extension to the base Memotec device MIB set. It is deployed on Memotec network devices during firmware upgrade or configuration backup/restore operations in telecom/enterprise WAN environments. Engineers can download the CXFileServer-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXFileServer-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CX Memotec network device

Monitoring Examples

Before pushing a firmware update, an operator checks cxFsFreeBytes to confirm sufficient storage exists on the target cxFsTransferDestSlot, then monitors cxFsIsBusy and the cxFsTftpTransfer status to confirm the transfer completes rather than stalling due to excessive cxFsTftpRemxt retransmissions. cxFsFileList can be polled afterward to verify the new cxFsTransferFileName was written successfully, and cxFsBackGroundCleanup/cxFsCleanupOnce can be triggered if free space runs low.

What Can Be Monitored

  • free storage space
  • TFTP transfer in-progress status
  • TFTP retransmission count
  • file listing/inventory
  • cleanup operation status
