Description: Manages shared console access and terminal configuration on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXCommonConsole-MIB?

CXCommonConsole-MIB is a vendor MIB from Memotec/CX for managing shared console/terminal access configuration on CX-series network access devices. It exposes console session parameters such as inactivity timeout, password, command prompt string, logging device and slot assignment, and a queue depth setting, along with a table of remote console access entries. This is primarily a configuration MIB for the device's management-console subsystem rather than a hardware-environmental MIB, though it does provide software-level status of console logging (cxCcLogDevice/cxCcLogDeviceSlot) and remote access session bookkeeping (cxCcRemoteTable), useful for auditing who/what can access device management. It has no apparent strong dependency on other standard MIBs beyond basic SNMP conventions given the limited sample objects. Typical deployment is on Memotec/CX branch-access or multiplexer equipment where administrators need to control and audit console-based management access. Engineers can download the CXCommonConsole-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXCommonConsole-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Memotec/CX network access and multiplexer equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check cxCcInactivityTimer to confirm the console auto-logout timeout is set per security policy, and cxCcQueueDepth to see how many queued console messages/commands the device buffers. The cxCcLogDevice and cxCcLogDeviceSlot objects identify where console logging output is being routed (e.g. which slot's logging device), useful to verify logging is directed to the correct destination. The cxCcRemoteTable lists remote console access entries, letting an operator audit which remote sessions have been established against the console.

What Can Be Monitored

  • console inactivity timeout
  • console logging device/slot
  • console queue depth
  • remote console access entries
