Description: Verilink IPAD ATM MIB providing SNMP objects for ATM interface configuration and cell-layer statistics on IPAD access devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IPAD-ATM-MIB?

IPAD-ATM-MIB is a Verilink-specific MIB for the IPAD family of ATM access/multiplexer devices, covering ATM interface configuration and cell-layer statistics. It exposes data organized around per-interface ATM parameters, virtual circuit connection (VCC) counters, and bandwidth allocation settings. For monitoring device health it is used to track ATM interface operational status, alarm conditions, and connection-establishment success versus failure counts, which reveal link or provisioning problems. It builds on standard ATM/interface concepts but is a proprietary enterprise MIB rather than one that formally imports a common IETF ATM MIB. It is typically deployed on WAN access multiplexers or ATM edge devices in carrier or enterprise access networks, where IPAD-ATM-MIB SNMP monitoring tracks interface status and VCC connection health.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IPAD-ATM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Verilink IPAD ATM access multiplexer

Monitoring Examples

A monitoring system would poll ipadAtmTable/ipadAtmTableEntry (keyed by ipadAtmIfIndex) to check ipadAtmOperStatus, and compare ipadAtmVccsOpenedOK against ipadAtmVccsNotOpened to detect a rising failure rate in VCC setup. Bandwidth objects such as ipadAtmLineBandwidth, ipadAtmAAL5Bandwidth, and ipadAtmOverSubscriptionFactor let an operator confirm the link isn't oversubscribed beyond ipadAtmOverSubBandwidth. ipadAtmAlarmReset can be invoked to clear a latched alarm once the underlying condition is resolved.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM interface operational status
  • VCC open success/failure counts
  • line and AAL5 bandwidth
  • oversubscription factor
  • alarm state

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using ipadAtmOperStatus OID:

Select a Verilink IPAD ATM access multiplexer as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ipadAtmOperStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The up/down status of this atm interface. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'upCellSync', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
