Category: Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys

Description: Manages Cabletron SFPS Layer 4 switching service for application-aware forwarding and session steering.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-SFPS-L4SS-MIB?

CTRON-SFPS-L4SS-MIB is a Cabletron Systems proprietary MIB for Layer 4 Switching Services (L4SS) on the SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) architecture, controlling flow classification based on TCP/IP session state. It exposes a global control over whether TCP segments with the ACK bit off are always treated as flow-setup exception packets, alongside a flow table recording each flow's connection index, primary/secondary Layer 3 addresses, and sub-protocol. As a configuration/protocol-status MIB it lets an administrator audit active Layer 4 flow classifications and confirm the TCP ACK-handling policy matches the intended security/performance posture. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast switches with Layer 4 switching services enabled. Engineers can download the CTRON-SFPS-L4SS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-L4SS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron Systems SecureFast switches (Layer 4 Switching Services)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reviews sfpsL4CPFlowTable to confirm a specific application's traffic is being classified into the expected Layer 4 flow, and checks sfpsL4CPDisableTCPAckCheck to understand how non-ACK TCP segments are being handled fabric-wide.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active Layer 4 flow classifications
  • TCP ACK-exception handling policy
