Category: Vendor: Cabletron/Enterasys

Description: Manages Cabletron SFPS distributed directory service for device and service location within the virtual network.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-SFPS-DIRECTORY-MIB?

CTRON-SFPS-DIRECTORY-MIB is a Cabletron Systems proprietary MIB for the SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) architecture, maintaining a directory of recently or currently active end-station nodes (superseding an older sfpsEndSystemTable). Its node table, hash-indexed for fast lookup, records each node's switch type and address, the port it was learned on, and its underlying base (data-link) address and type. As a hardware/software-status MIB it lets an administrator locate which SFPS switch and port a given end-station's address was learned on, useful for tracing a host's attachment point. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast switching fabric equipment. Engineers can download the CTRON-SFPS-DIRECTORY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-DIRECTORY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron Systems SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) fabric equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator searches sfpsNodeTable by a known end-station's base address to determine which switch and port it's currently attached to, when tracing a host's location on the SecureFast fabric.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active end-station address-to-switch/port mapping
