Description: Manages Cabletron SFPS connection tables, virtual circuit mappings, and connection-level statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CTRON-SFPS-CONN-MIB?

CTRON-SFPS-CONN-MIB is a Cabletron (Enterasys) enterprise MIB that manages connection-level state on the SecureFast Packet Switch (SFPS), specifically tracking Service Center connections — logical links between switch service centers used for control-plane coordination within the SFPS fabric. It exposes a connection table with each connection's address, routing metric, name, and administrative/operational status, plus request/response counters for that connection. For software status monitoring, sfpsServiceCenterConnectOperStatus/sfpsServiceCenterConnectAdminStatus indicate whether a service-center connection is actually established, sfpsServiceCenterConnectStatusTime shows how long it has held that state, and the request/response counters give a sense of control-plane traffic health on that link. It is a companion MIB to CTRON-SFPS-BASE-MIB and CTRON-SFPS-CALL-MIB within Cabletron's proprietary SecureFast virtual-networking architecture. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switch devices where multiple switches coordinate via service-center connections. Engineers can download the CTRON-SFPS-CONN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-CONN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switch (SFPS)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll sfpsServiceCenterConnectTable entries, comparing sfpsServiceCenterConnectAdminStatus to sfpsServiceCenterConnectOperStatus for a given sfpsServiceCenterConnectAddress/sfpsServiceCenterConnectName to confirm the service-center link is actually up. A connection stuck in down operational status for a long sfpsServiceCenterConnectStatusTime would point to a control-plane coordination failure between switches. Comparing sfpsServiceCenterConnectRequests to sfpsServiceCenterConnectResponses would reveal whether requests on that connection are going unanswered, another sign of link trouble.

What Can Be Monitored

  • service-center connection admin/operational status
  • connection status duration
  • connection routing metric
  • request vs. response counts per connection
