Category: Fibre Channel and Storage, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Manages Compaq/HP HSV StorageWorks SAN array controller and virtual disk objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CPQHSV-MIB?

CPQHSV-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Compaq/HP for the StorageWorks HSV family of SAN (Storage Area Network) array controllers, part of the HP EVA (Enterprise Virtual Array) storage line. It exposes management information about the HSV controller and its virtual disks, covering configuration and operational status of the storage array's controller and logical storage units. Its monitoring value is centered on storage hardware/software status: it lets administrators check controller operational state and the status of virtual disks (e.g. whether a virtual disk is online, degraded, or failed), which is critical for catching SAN storage faults before data loss occurs. As a storage array MIB it typically depends on or complements the vendor's broader server/storage management MIB set (e.g. CPQSTDEQ-MIB, host-side agents) for a full picture of the storage subsystem. It is typically deployed in enterprise data centers running HP/Compaq StorageWorks HSV-based SAN arrays for centralized block storage. Engineers can download the CPQHSV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CPQHSV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/Compaq StorageWorks HSV SAN array controller (EVA storage arrays)

Monitoring Examples

No sample runtime objects were supplied for this module, so specific object names cannot be grounded here; in practice an administrator would expect to poll HSV controller status and virtual disk status objects to detect a degraded or failed virtual disk or a controller that has failed over, which would indicate a storage hardware fault requiring attention.
