Category: Domain: Server Hardware, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Monitors HP NetServer Agent ECC memory error detection and correction counters on HP ProLiant server platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPNSAECC-MIB?

HPNSAECC-MIB is a proprietary HP NetServer Agent module from the same HP ProLiant/NetServer hardware-management agent family as HPNSADIMM-MIB, focused specifically on the ECC (Error-Correcting Code) memory subsystem. It exposes counters and status for correctable and uncorrectable memory errors detected by the server's ECC logic, generally organized per memory bank or module. Its monitoring value lies squarely in hardware health: rising correctable-error counts are an early warning of a degrading DIMM, while any uncorrectable error indicates an active fault that can crash the server, so this MIB is a key input for proactive memory-fault detection alongside overall server uptime protection. It complements HPNSADIMM-MIB, which supplies the physical slot inventory that these error counters map onto. It is deployed in legacy HP NetServer and early ProLiant environments running the HP Insight/NetServer Agent for hardware fault monitoring. Engineers can download the HPNSAECC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPNSAECC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP NetServer
  • HP ProLiant server

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll per-bank correctable and uncorrectable ECC error counters (a table modeled like eccErrorTable/eccErrorEntry) on a scheduled basis and alert when the correctable-error counter increments faster than a baseline rate, signalling a DIMM approaching failure. A nonzero uncorrectable-error count would be treated as a critical event requiring immediate DIMM replacement. No sample objects were supplied for this module, so exact object names are inferred rather than confirmed from source.

What Can Be Monitored

  • correctable ECC error count
  • uncorrectable ECC error count
  • per-bank memory error rate
  • memory fault status
