Description: Manages Cisco Small Business Plug-and-Play (PNP) provisioning for zero-touch switch deployment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSB-PNP?
CISCOSB-PNP is a Cisco Small Business proprietary MIB configuring the Plug-and-Play (PnP) provisioning agent, which lets a new switch automatically discover and download its configuration from a PnP server. Its parameters table records availability, server address type/address (with an owner field indicating whether it was set by DHCP, DNS, or manually), protocol, HTTP/HTTPS ports, username/password, discovery timeout with exponential-backoff factor and max timeout, reconnect timeout, and source-address type — each configuration item paired with an "owner" object recording how it was set. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm how a switch discovered its PnP server (DHCP option vs. manual configuration) before troubleshooting a zero-touch provisioning failure. It is deployed on Cisco Small Business managed switches. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-PNP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-PNP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business managed switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks rlPNPServerAddrOwner to confirm whether a switch learned its PnP server address via DHCP or manual configuration when zero-touch provisioning fails.
What Can Be Monitored
- PnP provisioning server configuration and discovery state
