Category: Device Management, Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: Benu Networks

Description: Defines platform-level hardware component identifiers and capability objects for Benu Networks gateway products.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BENU-PLATFORM-DEFN-MIB?

BENU-PLATFORM-DEFN-MIB is a proprietary Benu Networks module that solely defines object identifier (OID) assignments for the various hardware platform models in Benu's gateway product line. Rather than exposing runtime data, it establishes a namespace of platform-identifying OIDs that other Benu MIBs reference to indicate which physical hardware platform a device or data point belongs to. It exposes no interfaces, environment, performance, configuration, or fault data of its own, so it plays no direct monitoring role by itself. It supports monitoring only indirectly, since operational Benu MIBs (such as BENU-IPPOOL-MIB) import these platform OIDs for hardware identification purposes. It is deployed alongside the operational Benu MIBs on Benu Networks gateway hardware purely as a shared OID-definition module. Engineers can download the BENU-PLATFORM-DEFN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BENU-PLATFORM-DEFN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Benu Networks gateway platform (hardware identification only)

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no runtime data objects or tables -- it is a pure OID-definition module assigning identifiers to Benu hardware platform types, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe. Its OIDs are referenced by sysObjectID-style identification objects in other Benu MIBs to indicate the specific hardware platform model in use.
