Category: Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB
Description: Defines top-level OID registration and enterprise structure for Cisco Small Business (SMB) product MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCOSMB-MIB?
CISCOSMB-MIB is a Cisco-specific structural MIB that defines the top-level OID registration tree for Cisco's Small Business (SMB) product line, which originated from the Cisco/Linksys small-business switch acquisitions. Rather than exposing runtime data itself, it establishes the enterprise OID hierarchy (under otherEnterprises/ciscosb) that individual Cisco SMB product MIBs, such as switch and RND (research & development) modules, register beneath. As a registration-only module it has no monitorable counters of its own, so it plays no direct role in reporting hardware/software status such as uptime or temperature; that data lives in the child MIBs it makes room for. Its main dependency is structural: every Cisco Small Business device MIB (e.g., switch-family MIBs referenced by the switch001 node) is rooted under the tree this module defines. It is deployed conceptually wherever Cisco Small Business switches, routers, or wireless devices are managed via SNMP, serving as the anchor point for vendor-specific OIDs documented in the CISCOSMB-MIB MIB registration tree.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSMB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco Small Business (SMB) switches and routers
Monitoring Examples
This module contains no runtime data objects to poll; its entries such as cisco, otherEnterprises, ciscosb, switch001, and rndMib are OBJECT IDENTIFIER registration nodes, not instrumented counters or tables, so there is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe beyond confirming that a device's SNMP agent responds under the ciscosb OID branch.
Imported Objects
From RFC1155-SMI
