What Is CISCO-VPDN-MGMT-MIB?
CISCO-VPDN-MGMT-MIB is a Cisco IOS MIB for managing the Virtual Private Dialup Network (VPDN) feature, which forwards PPP links from an ISP's network access server to a home gateway over tunnels such as L2TP/L2F. It belongs to the dial/VPN networking category and exposes global VPDN counters, per-tunnel-type system statistics, and per-user failure history. Its monitoring value centers on software/service status: global and per-system-type totals for active tunnels, active sessions, denied users, and connection-request success/failure counts reveal whether VPDN tunnel establishment is healthy or failing. It builds on Cisco IOS's PPP and tunneling infrastructure but is otherwise a self-contained Cisco enterprise MIB without a strong external standards dependency beyond general SNMPv2 SMI conventions. An operator would poll cvpdnSystemTable/cvpdnSystemEntry, indexed by cvpdnSystemTunnelType, comparing cvpdnSystemInitialConnReq against cvpdnSystemSuccessConnReq and cvpdnSystemFailedConnReq for a given tunnel type, revealing a spike in failed connection requests that indicates authentication or tunnel-negotiation problems. The global scalars cvpdnTunnelTotal, cvpdnSessionTotal, and cvpdnDeniedUsersTotal give a quick health check of overall VPDN load and whether users are being rejected. A rising cvpdnSystemDeniedUsersTotal alongside falling cvpdnSystemSuccessConnReq would flag a tunnel-authentication outage needing investigation.
