Category: Cisco Devices, IP and Core Protocols, Network Interfaces

Description: Manages TCP offload engine configuration and statistics for hardware-accelerated TCP processing on Cisco devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-TCPOFFLOAD-MIB?

This Cisco MIB manages the TCP offload feature on the CMCC (Channel Interface / mainframe connectivity) card, which provides hardware-accelerated TCP processing for connecting mainframe channel traffic to IP networks on Cisco devices. It exposes primarily configuration data: per-card offload path/device identifiers, bound IP address, hostname, router name, and host/router application identifiers, plus a broadcast-enable flag. Its monitoring role is chiefly about software/configuration status of the offload feature on the card - confirming the offload session is correctly bound to the intended host and router - rather than reporting temperature or CPU load directly. It is specific to Cisco's mainframe channel connectivity hardware and does not draw on a broader public standard. Typical deployment is on Cisco routers with CMCC line cards providing TN3270/SNA-over-IP or similar mainframe channel-to-IP connectivity. Engineers can download the CISCO-TCPOFFLOAD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-TCPOFFLOAD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco routers with CMCC (mainframe channel connectivity) line cards
  • Cisco TCP-offload-capable line cards

Monitoring Examples

cipCardOffloadConfigTable/cipCardOffloadConfigEntry rows, keyed by cipCardOffloadConfigPath and cipCardOffloadConfigDevice, expose cipCardOffloadConfigIpAddr, cipCardOffloadConfigHostName, and cipCardOffloadConfigRouterName so an admin can confirm a CMCC card's TCP offload session is bound to the correct host and router IP addresses after a configuration change or card reload. Checking cipCardOffloadConfigBroadcastEnable alongside cipCardOffloadConfigLinkHostAppl/cipCardOffloadConfigAPIHostAppl verifies the expected application binding and broadcast-handling behavior for that offload path.

What Can Be Monitored

  • TCP offload configuration per card
  • configured host/router IP address bindings
  • hostname and router name mapping
  • broadcast-enable setting
  • host/router application bindings
