cipCardOffloadConfigPath

Module: CISCO-TCPOFFLOAD-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-TCPOFFLOAD-MIB::cipCardOffloadConfigPath

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.31.1.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: Hex path identifier for the escon director switch port containing the fiber from the channel on the host to which this CMCC CLAW task connects.

This is a concatenation of the switch port number, the channel logical address (used by the host to associate an logical partition (LPAR) with the control unit), and the control unit logical address (address of a logical control unit used by the host to associate a group of physical devices).

For a directly connected channel, the switch port number is usually 01.

What is cipCardOffloadConfigPath?

Holds a 2-byte hex path identifier for the ESCON director switch port carrying the fiber connection between a mainframe channel and this CMCC CLAW offload task, encoding the switch port number, the channel logical address, and the control-unit logical address together. Because this single value packs three separate addressing components used by the mainframe's channel subsystem to route the connection, getting any one of those encoded pieces wrong, such as the wrong switch-port nibble, means the CMCC's offload task simply won't be reachable over the ESCON fabric even though every other setting looks correct. A path value encoding ESCON switch port 1 paired with a specific control-unit logical address is a common thing to change when re-homing the offload task to a different mainframe LPAR, since that LPAR association is what's actually baked into this hex value.
