What Is CISCO-LES-MIB?

CISCO-LES-MIB manages ATM LAN Emulation Server (LES) and co-located Broadcast and Unknown Server (BUS) instances on Cisco ATM switching and routing equipment. It belongs to the legacy ATM/LAN Emulation (LANE) technology area, where Ethernet-style broadcast domains are emulated over ATM networks. It exposes configuration data such as ELAN names, ATM addresses, and interface associations for each LES/BUS instance, giving administrators visibility into the emulated LAN's addressing and binding state. Rather than classic hardware health metrics, it is used to monitor the operational status and configuration consistency of LANE services—confirming that a LES is correctly bound to its ATM address, interface, and BUS peer, which is critical for diagnosing broadcast/unknown-frame handling faults in an ELAN. It is typically deployed on legacy Cisco ATM switches and routers running LAN Emulation in networks that bridge Ethernet segments over an ATM backbone. Discrepancies, or an unexpected lesColocBusAtmAddrActl value, indicate the co-located BUS failed to bind correctly, which would disrupt broadcast/unknown traffic flooding for that emulated LAN.
