Description: Manages firmware and software download operations for the Cisco DMN D9800 digital satellite gateway.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-DL-MIB?
CISCO-DMN-DSG-DL-MIB, also called the Receiver Download Feature MIB, is part of Cisco's Digital Media Network Digital Satellite Gateway (DSG) product line, covering firmware and software download management on D9800-series satellite receivers. It exposes objects describing installed and available software, including current, safe (fallback), and boot firmware versions, product and tracking identifiers, and control actions to change or erase an application image and to reboot the device. This MIB is fundamentally a software-status and lifecycle-management module: it lets an operator directly verify software version (dlAboutCurrentVer, dlAboutSafeVer, dlAboutBootVer) and initiate or confirm the outcome of a firmware upgrade or fallback. As a Cisco-specific hardware/firmware management MIB it has no dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMP write-access conventions. It is used in headend or hub facilities managing fleets of satellite receivers that require centralized firmware rollout and rollback control, and operations staff can perform a CISCO-DMN-DSG-DL-MIB download to load these objects into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-DL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco D9800 digital satellite gateway/receiver
Monitoring Examples
An operations team would poll dlAboutAppTable (indexed by dlAboutAppIndex) alongside dlAboutCurrentVer and dlAboutSafeVer to confirm which firmware image is active on each receiver identified by dlAboutProductId and dlAboutTrackingId. If dlAboutCurrentVer does not match the version expected after a fleet-wide push, or if a device unexpectedly reports dlAboutSafeVer as active, it indicates a failed upgrade that fell back to the safe image. Objects like dlAboutChangeApp, dlAboutEraseApp, and dlAboutReboot are used to remediate by switching to a known-good image and restarting the unit.
What Can Be Monitored
