Category: Cisco Devices

Description: Defines SNMP notification objects for Cisco Evolved Programmable Network Manager, enabling forwarding of alarms and events as SNMP traps.

IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.

What Is CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB?

CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB is a Cisco Systems proprietary MIB carrying processed, analyzed notifications (as opposed to raw hardware/software traps) from an Event Processor Module (EPM) — a management application that correlates and forwards status changes for managed objects. Its alarm table, bounded by a max-length setting, records per-alarm sequence number/version, timestamp and updated timestamp, instance ID, status (with definition), type, category (with definition), originating server address, managed-object class/address, description, severity (with definition), a triage value, an associated event-ID list, and two free-text user-message fields. As a notification MIB it lets a downstream management application receive pre-analyzed, structured alerts about arbitrary managed objects rather than raw device traps — notably, receivers cannot query these objects directly, only receive them as traps. It is deployed on Cisco management applications acting as event processors. Engineers can download the CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco management applications (event processor / EPM)

Monitoring Examples

A downstream NMS subscribes to CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB traps to receive pre-correlated, severity-tagged alerts from a Cisco event-processing application instead of raw per-device traps.
