Description: Declares agent capability for IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation (LACP) MIB on Cisco devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-LAG-CAPABILITY?

CISCO-LAG-CAPABILITY is a Cisco AGENT-CAPABILITIES module documenting, across eleven capability statements spanning Cisco IOS, CatOS, and multiple Catalyst 6500/4500/7600 hardware/PFC combinations, exactly which conformance groups of the companion CISCO-LAG-MIB (IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation / LACP) are supported per platform-and-release combination. Each statement — for example clagCapV12R0250SYPCat6K for IOS 12.2(50)SY on Catalyst 6500 — lists INCLUDES groups such as clagAggProtocolGroup, clagAggPortGroup, clagAggDistributionGroup, clagAggMaxAggregatorsGroup, and newer additions like clagAggChannelIfLacpGroup and clagAggHashDistGlobalGroup, plus VARIATION clauses restricting clagAggDistributionProtocol to a platform-specific subset of load-balancing enumerations and bounding clagAggChannelIfMaxBundle/MinLink ranges. As a capability module it carries no monitorable data itself, but it depends on the separate CISCO-LAG-MIB for the real LAG/port-channel objects and applies to Cisco Catalyst 6500/4500/7600 switches running LACP-based EtherChannel. This makes the CISCO-LAG-CAPABILITY MIB essential reference material for determining which LACP aggregation objects and distribution-hashing options a specific Catalyst software/hardware combination will actually expose.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-LAG-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Catalyst 6500/4500/7600 switches running IOS or CatOS with LACP EtherChannel

Monitoring Examples

Before polling clagAggChannelIfMinLink on a Catalyst 6500 running IOS 15.0(1)SY, an integrator checks clagCapV15R0001SYPCat6k and confirms the object is supported with a range of 0 or 2-8, whereas the same object is entirely unsupported under the older clagCapV12R0111bEXCat6K (12.1(11b)EX) capability statement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • supported LAG protocol/port/distribution conformance groups by platform
  • supported distribution-hashing protocol enumeration values
  • max-bundle / min-link range support per platform
  • MPLS distribution group support
  • port-list and rate-group support by platform
