cenAlarmUpdatedTimestamp

Module: CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-EPM-NOTIFICATION-MIB::cenAlarmUpdatedTimestamp

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.311.1.1.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TimeStamp

Access: read-only

Description: Alarms persist over time and can have their field(s) change values. The last time a field(s) changed, this alarm is updated. The updated time denotes this time. Each alarm is identified by the unique alarm instance id, cenAlarmInstanceID.

What is cenAlarmUpdatedTimestamp?

This tracks the most recent time any field of this specific alarm instance was changed, since Cisco's EPM alarms persist and get updated in place rather than being replaced by new alarm objects each time. This distinction matters because a management station relying only on the original raise time could wrongly treat a long-standing, still-evolving alarm as stale, when in fact its severity or status was just changed. An alarm that was raised a week ago but shows an updated timestamp of two minutes ago might mean its severity just escalated from minor to critical, not that a brand-new problem appeared.
