What Is CHS-MIB?
CHS-MIB is a chassis-inventory MIB from US Robotics, identifiable by the 'usr'/'nas' object-tree prefixes in its objects, covering physical slot and module inventory for USR's Total Control/NetServer-class network access server (NAS) chassis. It exposes a per-slot table describing which module type is installed, its description, hardware/firmware version, serial number, and product code, plus a last-change timestamp for slot state transitions. This makes it a hardware inventory and status MIB: administrators use it to confirm which cards are physically present in each slot, detect module swaps or removals via uchasSlotLastChange, and verify firmware/hardware revisions and serial numbers for asset tracking and support cases. It is part of the broader USR NAS MIB family alongside modem and interface MIBs for the same chassis. It is typically deployed on USR Total Control/NetServer dial-up or broadband access chassis in carrier or enterprise access rooms. Engineers can download the CHS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll uchasSlotTable / uchasSlotEntry keyed by uchasSlotIndex, reading uchasSlotModuleType, uchasSlotModuleDescr, uchasSlotModuleVersion, and uchasSlotModuleSerialNumber to build an inventory of installed cards. A change in uchasSlotLastChange combined with a different uchasSlotModuleSerialNumber than previously recorded indicates a card was swapped, prompting a check of uchasSlotModuleProductCode against expected part numbers. uchasSlotStatFeEna and uchasSlotFeKey give front-end/feature enablement status for the slot's module.
