What Is CAMBIUM-PTP650-MIB?
CAMBIUM-PTP650-MIB is Cambium Networks' vendor-specific SNMP module for the PTP 650 non-line-of-sight (NLOS) wireless Ethernet bridge, used to link two network segments over a microwave connection without requiring clear visual line of sight. It exposes radio link configuration and performance data, including modulation/coding scheme, link capacity, and signal-quality statistics for the point-to-point connection. Beyond raw RF metrics, PTP 650-class MIBs are used to monitor the software/hardware status of the radio unit itself, covering link uptime, temperature, transmit power, and alarm conditions, giving administrators early warning of both environmental RF degradation and unit hardware faults. It is a self-contained vendor MIB independent of IETF standard MIB dependencies. It's typically deployed by wireless ISPs and enterprises using PTP 650 links for NLOS wireless backhaul in urban or obstructed environments. Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls the PTP 650's modulation/coding-scheme and received-signal-level objects to verify the NLOS link is holding its highest supported modulation under current RF conditions. A sustained downshift in modulation mode paired with rising receive-level variance often indicates multipath interference or a growing obstruction in the link path. Link uptime and temperature/alarm objects are checked in parallel to distinguish an RF-quality issue from a hardware fault in the radio unit.
