Description: Acme Packet SBC SIP signaling proxy configuration, registration, and call statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is APSIP-MIB?

APSIP-MIB is an Acme Packet enterprise MIB for its Session Border Controllers (SBCs), covering SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) signaling proxy configuration, registration handling, and call statistics. It exposes objects for SIP security interface registration counts and thresholds, alongside general, tabular, and notification object groups covering the SBC's SIP signaling behavior. Its monitoring value centers on software/service-level status for VoIP signaling: tracking total registrations against configured thresholds helps detect registration floods (a common SIP DoS pattern) or unexpectedly low registration counts indicating an endpoint outage. It is a vendor-specific module within the broader Acme Packet enterprise MIB tree, typically used alongside Acme Packet's SBC health and system MIBs. It is deployed on Acme Packet (now Oracle) SBCs at network edges handling SIP trunking and session border control for carriers and enterprises. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the APSIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APSIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Acme Packet (Oracle) Session Border Controller (SBC)

Monitoring Examples

An operator can poll apSipSecInterfaceTotalRegistrations against apSipSecInterfaceRegThreshold and apSipSecInterfaceClearThreshold to detect when registration volume on a security interface crosses an alarm threshold, which could indicate a registration flood attack or a misbehaving endpoint retry storm. Once registrations drop back below apSipSecInterfaceClearThreshold, the condition would be considered cleared. The apSipMIBTabularObjects and apSipNotificationObjects groups would be used to correlate this with generated SIP-related traps.

What Can Be Monitored

  • total SIP registrations per interface
  • registration alarm threshold
  • registration clear threshold
  • SIP signaling notifications
