Description: Acme Packet SBC server load balancing configuration and real-server health management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is APSLB-MIB?

APSLB-MIB is Acme Packet's proprietary Session Load Balancer MIB for its Session Border Controller (SBC) products, covering server load balancing and health tracking of trusted and untrusted signaling endpoints. It exposes current/denied/aged-out endpoint counts alongside configured capacity and threshold values. Its status-monitoring focus is service-level rather than physical: endpoint capacity utilization and threshold crossings indicate whether the SBC's session-handling load is approaching its configured limits, functioning as a performance and health indicator for the signaling load-balancing function. It is rooted in Acme Packet's own enterprise MIB tree under apSLBMIBGeneralObjects with no apparent dependency on an external standard MIB. It is deployed on Acme Packet SBCs handling SIP trunking or VoIP signaling in service provider and enterprise voice networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the APSLB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APSLB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Acme Packet Session Border Controller (SBC)

Monitoring Examples

An operator compares apSLBStatsEndpointsCurrent against apSLBEndpointCapacity to compute utilization, watching for apSLBEndpointCapacityUpperThresh crossings that coincide with a rise in apSLBStatsEndpointsDenied, indicating the SBC is rejecting new endpoints. Separately tracking apSLBStatsTrustedEndpointsCurrent versus apSLBStatsUntrustedEndpointsCurrent, along with apSLBStatsUntrustedEndpointsAgedOut, shows whether untrusted (unauthenticated) sessions are being properly aged out rather than accumulating.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current endpoint count
  • denied endpoint count
  • endpoint capacity utilization
  • capacity threshold crossings
  • trusted vs untrusted endpoint counts
  • aged-out endpoint count
