What Is APPIAN-PPORT-SONET-MIB?

APPIAN-PPORT-SONET-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Appian Communications that covers section, line, and path-layer performance management for physical SONET/SDH ports on Appian's optical access equipment, built on the standard PerfHist-TC-MIB textual conventions for interval-based counters. It defines acSonetPortTable for per-port administrative/operational status, medium line coding/type, loopback configuration, and ring identification; acSonetThresholdTable for configurable severely-errored-second thresholds; acSonetDCCTable for section/line/Appian data-communications-channel enable and failure state; and matching acSonetSection15MinuteIntervalTable and acSonetSectionDayIntervalTable structures reporting errored seconds (ESs), severely errored seconds (SESs), severely errored framing seconds (SEFSs), and coding violations (CVs) per 15-minute and daily bucket. This gives operators the granular, standards-aligned performance history needed to spot degrading SONET links (rising SES/SEFS counts) well before a port fails outright, similar in spirit to the standard SONET-MIB but scoped to Appian's port/slot/node addressing scheme. It depends on Appian's own APPIAN-SMI-MIB for node/slot/port indexing types and is deployed on Appian SONET/SDH access platforms in metro optical networks. Operators standardizing on Appian gear can download the APPIAN-PPORT-SONET-MIB file to pull it into their MIB browser.
