Description: Appian Communications PPP trunk link configuration and multilink bundle management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is APPIAN-TRUNK-PPP-MIB?
APPIAN-TRUNK-PPP-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Appian Communications covering PPP and Multilink PPP (MLPPP) trunk-level services, complementing the logical-port PPP MIB by managing bundled/trunked PPP links on Appian's access platforms. It exposes trunk configuration such as negotiated MRU/MRRU, sequence numbering, magic number and LCP echo settings, management access, and IPCP address negotiation for each PPP trunk bundle. Its monitoring focus is software/protocol status: acPppTrunkLCPEchoEnable and acPppTrunkLCPEchoInterval reveal whether keepalive monitoring is active on the bundle, and acPppTrunkMaxTerminate indicates the termination retry threshold used to detect a failed link before tearing it down. It shares its underlying node/index addressing scheme with the other Appian PPP MIBs in the same family. It is used on Appian OSAP access-transport platforms that aggregate multiple physical circuits into a single logical MLPPP trunk for capacity and resiliency. Engineers can download the APPIAN-TRUNK-PPP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in APPIAN-TRUNK-PPP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Appian Communications OSAP access/transport platform
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polling acPppTrunkTable via acPppTrunkIndex would check acPppTrunkLCPEchoEnable and acPppTrunkLCPEchoInterval to confirm keepalive monitoring is configured as expected on a trunk bundle, since a disabled echo can mask a silently failed member link. Comparing negotiated acPppTrunkMru/acPppTrunkMrru against expected values helps catch a peer that dropped multilink support. acPppTrunkSeqNum trending can reveal packet-sequencing anomalies within the bundle, and acPppTrunkIPCPAddressEnable confirms whether IP address negotiation is active on the trunk.
What Can Be Monitored
- trunk LCP echo/keepalive status
- negotiated MRU/MRRU
- trunk sequence numbering
- IPCP address negotiation state
- trunk termination retry threshold
- management access mode
