Description: The tmnxVRtrMaxArpEntriesTCA notification is generated when the number of ARP entries in a VPRN exceeds the maximum supported.

What is tmnxVRtrMaxArpEntriesTCA?

This SNMP notification (trap) is generated when the number of Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) entries in a VPRN exceeds the maximum supported limit. This warning alerts operators that the ARP cache is near capacity and some new ARP entries may fail to be learned. An operator would respond by investigating whether too many unique hosts are on the network, configuring static ARP entries, or increasing ARP table limits if supported.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' ALCATEL-IND1-TIMETRA-VRTR-MIB::tmnxVRtrMaxArpEntriesTCA
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.3.0.8

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
