Description: Alcatel OmniSwitch IS-IS routing protocol MIB for managing IS-IS areas, adjacencies, LSPs, and route metrics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ALCATEL-IND1-ISIS-MIB?
ALCATEL-IND1-ISIS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB, adapted from Alcatel's 7x50 device ISIS MIB, for managing the IS-IS routing protocol on Alcatel-Lucent's 'Birds of Prey' router product line (the OmniSwitch/service router family referenced in the hint). It exposes global and per-instance IS-IS configuration and state through tables such as vRtrIsisTable, vRtrIsisIfTable and vRtrIsisIfLevelTable (interface/level configuration), vRtrIsisISAdjTable (adjacency state), vRtrIsisLSPTable (link-state PDUs), vRtrIsisRouteTable/vRtrIsisInetRouteTable (computed routes), and vRtrIsisSpfLogTable (SPF run history), plus vRtrIsisStatsTable for protocol statistics. It depends on the standard ISIS-MIB (isisSysInstance, isisISAdjState, SystemID) and IF-MIB's InterfaceIndex, layering Alcatel-specific virtual-router (vRtr) scoping on top of those standard definitions. It is deployed on Alcatel-Lucent service routers running IS-IS for intra-domain routing, and monitoring it reveals adjacency stability, LSP database health, and SPF recalculation frequency — key indicators of IGP convergence problems; network engineers can search for ALCATEL-IND1-ISIS-MIB OID values when troubleshooting adjacency flaps.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALCATEL-IND1-ISIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel-Lucent 'Birds of Prey' service routers / OmniSwitch product line
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls vRtrIsisISAdjTable to confirm isisISAdjState-equivalent adjacency status is 'up' for a neighboring router and checks vRtrIsisSpfLogTable for recent SPF run timestamps; frequent new entries in vRtrIsisSpfLogTable combined with adjacency flapping in vRtrIsisISAdjTable would point to an unstable IS-IS link causing repeated topology recalculation.
What Can Be Monitored
- IS-IS adjacency state table
- interface-level IS-IS configuration
- link-state PDU (LSP) database entries
- computed IS-IS route table
- SPF recalculation log
- IS-IS protocol statistics counters

If the vRtrIsisReferenceBw is configured as Ten Gig (10,000,000,000) a 100-Mbps interface has a default metric of 100. In order for metrics in excess of 63 to be configured wide metrics must be deployed. If the reference bandwidth is not configured then all levels will have a default metric of 10. The operational value of the metric is maintained in the object vRtrIsisIfLevelOperMetric. |

If vRtrIsisIfLevelHelloAuthType is set to 'password', vRtrIsisIfLevelHelloAuthKey can include any ASCII character. Authentication can be configured globally and applied to all ISIS levels or it can be configured on a per level basis. The most specific value is used. If the value of vRtrIsisIfLevelHelloAuthType is 'useGlobal', then the global values, if any, defined in vRtrIsisIfHelloAuthKey and vRtrIsisIfHelloAuthType are used instead.
