What Is ZYXEL-VDSLLINE-MIB?
ZYXEL-VDSLLINE-MIB is a ZyXEL private enterprise MIB for VDSL line configuration and performance monitoring, placing it in the DSL/broadband access line category for subscriber-facing DSLAM or CPE equipment. It exposes per-line configuration such as profile and mode, and performance/status data such as line rate, signal-to-noise margin, attenuation, and error counters typical of VDSL line monitoring, reflecting the physical-layer health of each subscriber's copper loop. Its monitoring focus is heavily on line/hardware status: a degraded VDSL line shows up as reduced sync rate, elevated CRC/FEC error counts, or a lower noise margin, all classic indicators of a physical-layer fault such as cable damage, moisture, or interference rather than a software issue. It commonly complements or maps onto standard xDSL MIBs, such as the IETF VDSL2-LINE-MIB family, that define comparable line-status objects. It is typically deployed on ZyXEL DSLAM/central-office VDSL line cards or VDSL CPE modems providing broadband access to residential or business subscribers. Engineers can download the ZYXEL-VDSLLINE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-VDSLLINE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- line sync rate (up/down)
- signal-to-noise margin
- line attenuation
- CRC/FEC error counts
- line operational status
Supported Devices
- ZyXEL VDSL DSLAM/line card
- ZyXEL VDSL CPE modem
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll a given subscriber's VDSL line status for its current sync rate, noise margin, and attenuation, then compare against baseline values recorded at line activation. A subscriber's noise margin dropping sharply while attenuation stays constant, accompanied by rising CRC error counts, typically indicates a new source of electrical interference or a degrading connector rather than distance-related loss. Because no sample objects were listed for this MIB, specific table/column names are unconfirmed, but VDSL line MIBs conventionally expose rate, margin, attenuation, and error-count objects per line.

| accessSwitchVdslLineConfProfileTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10 | not-accessible | This table contains information on the VDSL line configuration. One entry in this table reflects a profile which can be used to configure the VDSL line. | |
| accessSwitchVdslLineConfProfileEntry | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1 | not-accessible | Each entry consists of a list of parameters that represents the configuration of an VDSL modem. When `dynamic' profiles are implemented, a default profile will always exist. This profile's name will be set to `DEFVAL' and its parameters will be set to vendor specific values, unless otherwise specified in this document. When `static' profiles are implemented, profiles are automaticly created or destroyed as VDSL physical lines are discovered and removed by the system. The name of the profile will be equivalent to the decimal value of the line's interface index. | |
| STR accessSwitchVdslLineConfProfileName | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1.1 | DisplayString | not-accessible | This object is used by the line configuration table in order to identify a row of this table. When `dynamic' profiles are implemented, the profile name is user specified. Also, the system will always provide a default profile whose name is `DEFVAL'. When `static' profiles are implemented, there is an one-to-one relationship between each line and its profile. In which case, the profile name will need to algorithmicly represent the Line's ifIndex. Therefore, the profile's name is a decimalized string of the ifIndex that is fixed-length (i.e., 10) with leading zero(s). For example, the profile name for ifIndex which equals '15' will be '0000000015'. |
| INT accessSwitchVdslLineConfMode | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1.2 | INTEGER | read-create | Specifies the VDSL mode type used on this line. |

| INT accessSwitchVdslVtuoConfMaxSnrMgn | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1.5 | INTEGER | read-create | Configured Maximum acceptable Signal/Noise Margin in 0.01dB. If the Noise Margin is above this the modem should attempt to reduce its power output to optimize its operation. |
| INT accessSwitchVdslVtuoConfMinSnrMgn | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1.6 | INTEGER | read-create | Configured Minimum acceptable Signal/Noise Margin in 0.01dB. If the noise margin falls below this level, the modem should attempt to increase its power output. If that is not possible the modem will attempt to re-initialize or shut down. |
| INT accessSwitchVdslVturConfRate | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1.7 | INTEGER | read-create | Transmission rate in bits-per-second specified by this VTU. |

| ROW accessSwitchVdslLineConfProfileRowStatus | 1.3.6.1.4.1.890.1.5.12.1.1.1.10.1.11 | RowStatus | read-create | This object is used to create a new row or modify or delete an existing row in this table. A profile activated by setting this object to `active'. When `active' is set, the system will validate the profile. Before a profile can be deleted or taken out of service, (by setting this object to `destroy' or `outOfService') it must be first unreferenced from all associated lines. If the implementator of this MIB has chosen not to implement `dynamic assignment' of profiles, this object's MIN-ACCESS is read-only and its value is always to be `active'. |
