What Is ZYXEL-SAM1216?
ZYXEL-SAM1216 is a vendor-specific MIB for ZyXEL's SAM1216 ADSL access multiplexer (DSLAM), a broadband access aggregation device used by ISPs to deliver DSL service to subscribers. It exposes objects covering per-line ADSL configuration and status, subscriber port batch provisioning, and power management parameters for the multiplexer chassis. Administrators use it to monitor hardware and software status of individual DSL ports and the power subsystem, tracking line sync state, configuration mismatches, and power-management timers/PSD (power spectral density) settings that affect line stability. As a ZyXEL enterprise MIB it likely complements, rather than replaces, the standard ADSL-LINE-MIB (RFC 2662) used for line rate/margin statistics. It is typically deployed in DSLAM head-end equipment at a telecom central office or cabinet, polled by an NMS to track large numbers of subscriber lines. Engineers can download the ZYXEL-SAM1216 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZYXEL-SAM1216. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- ADSL line configuration
- ADSL line sync status
- power management parameters
- L2 low-power timer state
- PSD (power spectral density) settings
- per-port batch configuration status
Supported Devices
- ZyXEL SAM1216 ADSL access multiplexer (DSLAM)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll adslLineConfEntry and adslLineStatusEntry across all ports on a SAM1216 chassis to confirm each subscriber line is provisioned and synced correctly, and use adslPortBatchSet to push configuration changes to many ports at once during a service rollout. Power-related anomalies would show up in powerMgmtParamEntry and powerMgmtPSDEntry, where deviations in powerMgmtL2Time (the L2 low-power state timer) can indicate a line dropping into, or failing to enter, a power-saving mode as expected, useful for diagnosing intermittent subscriber connectivity or power-budget issues.

RFC description
Management MIB for ZyXEL SAM1216 access switch, supporting DHCP relay, multicast, QoS, and network security features.
Start monitoring ZyXEL SAM1216 ADSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) (per-line ADSL sync/power-management status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
