Category: DSL and Broadband Access

Description: Monitors Zhone Technologies GPON optical link status, ONT registration, and downstream bandwidth statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHNGPONLINK?

ZHNGPONLINK is a Zhone Technologies proprietary MIB reporting GPON interface status on Zhone VoIP CPE (ONT) devices. Its link-status table, keyed by interface index, records operational status and link-up transition count, alongside RF-video presence, ONU ID, GPON state, receive optical level, transmit power and bias current, module temperature and supply voltage, and an alarm-status table covering auto-power-control failure, loss of signal (LOS), loss of lock (LOL), loss of frame (LOF), LCDG, failed/degraded signal, startup failure, and message-error conditions. As a hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator watch a GPON ONT's optical receive level and temperature as leading indicators of a failing fiber connection or transceiver. It is deployed on Zhone Technologies GPON VoIP CPE (ONT) devices. Engineers can download the ZHNGPONLINK file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHNGPONLINK. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies GPON VoIP CPE (ONT) devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator monitors rxLevel and gponTemperature on a subscriber's Zhone ONT to catch a degrading optical connection before it triggers a full loss-of-signal alarm.
