Category: DSL and Broadband Access

Description: Defines reusable IP configuration templates for subscriber interface provisioning on Redstone BRAS.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is REDSTONE-IP-TEMPLATE-MIB?

REDSTONE-IP-TEMPLATE-MIB is a Redstone Communications module for its Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) platform, defining reusable IP configuration templates applied to subscriber-facing interfaces. It falls into the configuration-management category, modeling a table of named IP templates each carrying address/mask, MTU, directed-broadcast, and ICMP-redirect settings plus a loopback interface reference and access-route behavior. Rather than hardware health, its monitoring value is largely about configuration status: an operator can verify which IP template is active for a given subscriber profile, confirm the assigned address, mask, and MTU are as expected, and detect misconfigured templates that would cause subscriber connectivity issues. The module does not appear to formally import from other standard MIBs beyond the base SNMPv2 SMI/conformance framework implied by its own conformance group. It is deployed on Redstone Communications BRAS equipment used by broadband/ISP providers for large-scale subscriber IP provisioning. Engineers can download the REDSTONE-IP-TEMPLATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDSTONE-IP-TEMPLATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Redstone Communications BRAS (Broadband Remote Access Server)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would walk rsIpTemplateTable/rsIpTemplateEntry indexed by rsIpTemplateId to review each provisioning template's rsIpTemplateIpAddr, rsIpTemplateIpMask, and rsIpTemplateMtu, confirming they match the intended subscriber IP plan. Checking rsIpTemplateRowStatus reveals whether a template row is active, notInService, or being created/destroyed, while rsIpTemplateDirectedBcastEnable and rsIpTemplateIcmpRedirectEnable show whether potentially risky IP behaviors are enabled on a subscriber-facing template -- useful when auditing for misconfigurations that could enable network abuse.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP template row status
  • assigned IP address and subnet mask per template
  • MTU setting
  • directed broadcast enable/disable
  • ICMP redirect enable/disable
  • loopback interface association
