Description: Bay Networks Remote Annex trap definitions for security-attack, modem-failure, WAN alarm threshold, and AFD events on Xylogics Annex access servers

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is XYLOGICS-TRAP-MIB?

This proprietary MIB defines SNMP trap notifications for Xylogics/Bay Networks Remote Annex terminal/communication servers, a product line providing dial-up and terminal-access services. It exposes trap definitions covering security-attack detection, modem failure, WAN alarm thresholds, and AFD (presumably an internal alarm/fault-detection) events rather than pollable data tables. Its monitoring value is entirely fault/event-oriented: it lets administrators be alerted in near real time to security attacks against the access server, failing modems, or WAN link alarm conditions, which are direct indicators of hardware and security health. As a trap-only module tied to the Annex platform, it complements whatever base Annex management MIB defines the polled configuration/status objects. It is deployed on Xylogics/Bay Networks Remote Annex terminal servers providing dial-up or async access in enterprise/ISP environments. Engineers can download the XYLOGICS-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYLOGICS-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Xylogics/Bay Networks Remote Annex terminal server

Monitoring Examples

An administrator's trap receiver would log a security-attack trap when repeated failed login attempts are detected on the Annex server, or a modem-failure trap when a modem port stops responding. A burst of WAN alarm threshold traps would indicate the WAN link attached to the Annex is experiencing sustained errors. Since this module defines traps rather than data tables, there are no sample runtime objects to poll, only notifications to receive.

What Can Be Monitored

  • security attack alerts
  • modem failure events
  • WAN alarm threshold breaches
  • AFD alarm events
