Description: MIB for ZTE Ethernet Smart Ring (ZESR) protocol configuration on ZTE ZXR10 switches, covering ring domain parameters, restart timers, and switch-over counters

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZESR-MIB?

This is a ZTE Corporation enterprise MIB covering the ZTE Ethernet Smart Ring (ZESR) protocol, a proprietary Ethernet ring-protection mechanism used on ZTE ZXR10 switches to provide fast failover for ring-topology Ethernet networks. It models ring-domain configuration parameters, restart/guard timers, and switch-over event counters describing how the ring protocol is provisioned and how often protection switching has occurred. Its main monitoring value is around the software/protocol health of ring protection: confirming ring-domain configuration is consistent across member switches and tracking switch-over counts as an indicator of ring instability or repeated link flaps. It is conceptually related to (though not derived from) standards like ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching, implemented instead as ZTE's proprietary ZESR protocol. It is deployed on ZTE ZXR10 switches used in metro Ethernet or campus ring topologies requiring sub-second failover. Engineers can download the ZESR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZESR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 switch (ring-topology Ethernet)

Monitoring Examples

No real object names were available in this MIB source beyond an IMPORTS clause, so a specific polling scenario cannot be described with confidence. In general, an operator would monitor ring-domain switch-over counters and restart/guard timer configuration on ZXR10 switches. Repeated increments in the switch-over counter would indicate a flapping link causing frequent ring protection events.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ring domain configuration
  • switch-over event counters
  • restart/guard timer settings
