Category: Xylan OmniSwitch
Description: Defines Xylan OmniSwitch enterprise trap definitions for module 5 fault and status change notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is XYLANTRAP-5-MIB?
XYLANTRAP-5-MIB is a legacy Xylan Corporation (later Alcatel) proprietary MIB defining a family of SNMP notifications drawn from multiple Xylan subsystem MIBs (chassis, FDDI, ATM, Frame Relay, health, IP, management-station, port, VLAN), including a tempAlarm signaling a temperature sensor's transition from under-threshold to over-threshold. It carries no data objects of its own — as a notification-aggregation module it registers the trap OIDs an NMS needs to recognize alerts sourced from across the Xylan OmniSwitch subsystem MIB family. It underlies Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch equipment. Engineers can download the XYLANTRAP-5-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYLANTRAP-5-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch equipment
Monitoring Examples
An NMS receiving a tempAlarm trap from XYLANTRAP-5-MIB confirms a temperature sensor on a Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch just crossed its over-threshold limit.
What Can Be Monitored
- cross-subsystem alarm notifications, including temperature threshold crossings
