Category: Xylan OmniSwitch
Description: Monitors Xylan OmniSwitch SONET ATM cell error counts, HEC violations, and path-level alarms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is XYLAN-SONET-CELL-ERR-MIB?
XYLAN-SONET-CELL-ERR-MIB is a legacy Xylan Corporation (later Alcatel) proprietary MIB reporting SONET port ATM cell-error statistics on Xylan OmniSwitch equipment. Its port-statistics table, keyed by slot/port, records received-cell count, corrected-HCS (Header Check Sequence) cell count, and uncorrected-HCS cell count. As a performance MIB it lets an administrator watch uncorrectable HCS cell errors as an indicator of a degrading SONET/ATM physical link on a Xylan OmniSwitch. It is deployed on Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch SONET/ATM equipment. Engineers can download the XYLAN-SONET-CELL-ERR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XYLAN-SONET-CELL-ERR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch SONET/ATM equipment
Monitoring Examples
An administrator monitors xylanSonetPortStatUncorrHCSCellCount rising over time to catch a degrading SONET/ATM physical link on a Xylan (Alcatel) OmniSwitch.
What Can Be Monitored
- SONET port ATM cell-error counts
